Aging is Cool: Because Older Adults Deserve More Than Bingo

We started Aging is Cool because we believe in a different story about aging. One where older
adults are celebrated, not sidelined. One where engagement isn’t an extra, but a necessity. And
one where age never limits the joy of learning, connection, and growth.

We work with senior living communities, families and individuals who share that belief.

Our Mission
To enrich the lives of older adults by delivering joyful, inclusive programs that celebrate their
abilities, stimulate their minds, and spark connection. We exist to make sure aging is embraced
as a vibrant and meaningful chapter of life.

Our Philosophy
We are deeply anti-ageist. We don’t baby, patronize, or perform. We honor experience and we create space for older adults to shine. Our programs are rooted in respect and built around possibility — whether it’s learning something new, dancing to a favorite tune, or sharing stories that matter.

Who We Are
We are artists, educators, athletes, and lifelong learners. Many of us are older adults ourselves. Our instructors don’t just "work with older adults" — many are older adults, bringing shared experience and deep understanding into every room they enter. They know how to meet residents where they are, and how to lift them up.

What We Believe

  • Older adults are whole people — capable, complex, and worthy of deep respect.

  • Engagement is essential to health and well-being.

  • Connection and creativity are lifelong needs.

  • Aging isn’t a decline. It’s a powerful continuation.

We believe older adults deserve more than passive activities. They deserve purpose, play, and people who believe in their potential. Aging is Cool exists to provide that — and to work with communities who do, too.

Aging is Cool was co-founded in 20126, by Amy and Damien Temperley, two passionate advocates for the power of purposeful aging.

Amy brings a background in nonprofit leadership, elder advocacy, and entrepreneurism. She's spent over three decades creating and leading programs that uplift and empower older adults. Her belief that engagement transforms lives drives the mission of Aging is Cool every day.

Damien is a natural connector, community-builder, and creative force. With his unique sense of humor, love of storytelling, and experience leading engaging group activities, he ensures every class is rooted in fun and connection.

Together, Amy and Damien believe that aging isn’t something to endure — it’s something to embrace. They started Aging is Cool to challenge ageist stereotypes, celebrate wisdom and vitality, and help older adults live life fully at every stage.

They lead with heart, with vision, and with the unwavering belief that community, creativity, and respect can change the way we all experience aging.
